Caring for Your Crazy Horse Leather:

Made to be used. Made to get better with age.

Crazy Horse leather is prized for its rich color, supple feel, and beautifully weathered character. Its distinctive waxed finish creates a pull-up effect, allowing the color to subtly change when the leather is bent, rubbed, or scratched.

Those variations aren't imperfections. They're part of the beauty—and over time, they become part of your piece's story.

The best care is simple: brush it, keep it dry, condition it sparingly, and let it age naturally.

Your Horsehair Brush:

For everyday care, we recommend using only a clean, soft horsehair brush.

Gently brush away dust and surface dirt using light, even strokes. Pay particular attention to seams, folds, and areas that receive frequent handling.

Regular brushing keeps the leather clean without disturbing its natural finish and can help redistribute the surface waxes.

For routine care, this is usually all your leather needs.

Avoid stiff brushes, brass or wire brushes, abrasive cleaners, and anything designed to aggressively scrub the leather.

One good horsehair brush is better than a drawer full of products.

Scratches & Scuffs:

Don't worry about every mark.

The waxes within Crazy Horse leather can shift when the surface is rubbed or scratched, creating lighter areas that are part of its natural pull-up character.

Many small marks can be softened simply by gently rubbing the area with your fingertip or brushing it with your horsehair brush.

Brush first. Rub gently. Then leave it alone.

If It Gets Wet:

Crazy Horse leather has some natural resistance to moisture, but it is not waterproof.

If your leather becomes wet:

• Blot away moisture with a clean, absorbent cloth.
• Allow it to dry naturally at room temperature.
• Keep it away from hair dryers, radiators, and direct heat.
• Once completely dry, gently brush the leather with your horsehair brush.

Never scrub wet leather or try to speed up the drying process with heat.

Conditioning:

Crazy Horse leather is already treated with oils and waxes, so less is more.

Condition only if the leather begins to feel noticeably dry or stiff. Use a conditioner specifically intended for waxed, pull-up, or Crazy Horse leather, and always test it on an inconspicuous area first.

Apply sparingly. Too much conditioner can darken the leather or change its natural finish.

If it looks healthy and feels supple, leave it alone.

What to Avoid:

Keep your leather away from:

• Harsh household cleaners or alcohol-based wipes
• Excessive water
• Abrasive brushes or scrubbers
• Brass or wire brushes
• Heavy oils or unnecessary conditioning
• Prolonged direct sunlight
• Radiators, hair dryers, or concentrated heat

Storage:

Store your leather somewhere cool, dry, and away from direct sunlight and heat.

For longer periods of storage, use a breathable fabric or cotton dust bag rather than airtight plastic. If needed, gently fill structured pieces with clean tissue paper to help maintain their shape.

The Pug & Bulldog Rule:

Use it. Don't baby it.

A good piece of leather should collect a little history.

The softened edges. The occasional scratch. The subtle change in color where your hands naturally rest.

That's the beauty of Crazy Horse leather.

It doesn't stay exactly as it was when you bought it.

It becomes yours.

Give it a good horsehair brushing from time to time. Keep it dry. Condition it only when it truly needs it.

Then carry it often.

The good stuff is worth keeping.

Return Policy:

We are truly sorry to hear that your order didn't work out as expected, but we will help rectify the situation. We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days from the date you receive your package to request a return. 

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the original condition that you received it, unwashed, unworn, unused and undamaged with tags.

If your return is accepted, we’ll email you a complimentary return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues:
Please inspect your order upon arrival and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items:
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food items), custom products such as special orders or personalized items. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item. 

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

Exchanges:
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

European Union 14 day cooling off period:
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Refunds:
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too. If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at info@pugandbulldog.com.
